Simple Tooth Extractions

If you’re experiencing extreme sensitivity or advanced periodontal disease, a simple tooth extraction may be necessary. Our dental team is here to provide safe and effective extraction procedures to alleviate pain and address various dental issues.

Reasons for Tooth Extraction

There are several scenarios where a simple extraction can be beneficial, such as:

  • Advanced periodontal disease leading to loose tooth roots
  • Presence of extra or baby teeth obstructing adult teeth
  • Preparation for orthodontic treatment
  • Removal of fractured or malformed teeth
  • Severe tooth decay not treatable with root canal therapy

The Extraction Process

Before the extraction, we’ll conduct X-rays to assess the tooth’s condition and plan the procedure accordingly. Once prepared, you’ll receive a local anesthetic to numb the area and prevent discomfort.

Using specialized tools, such as elevators and forceps, the dentist will gently lift the tooth and loosen surrounding ligaments and gum tissue. With careful manipulation, the tooth will be extracted without the need for major surgery.

In some cases, stubborn teeth may require additional techniques, such as breaking them into smaller pieces for removal. After extraction, we’ll pack the socket with gauze and provide instructions for proper aftercare.

If you develop illness leading up to the extraction appointment, please notify our office to discuss alternative arrangements.
