Home Care

Achieving a beautiful, enduring smile is our primary aim in patient care. Your commitment to personal home care is paramount in realizing this objective. It starts with simple yet impactful practices integrated into your daily routine.

Dietary habits play a significant role in oral health. Consuming balanced meals and limiting snack intake are fundamental steps in safeguarding your teeth. Equally crucial is the proper utilization of dental aids designed to manage plaque and bacterial buildup, the primary culprits of dental ailments.

Tooth Brushing:

Brush your teeth at least twice daily, paying particular attention before bedtime. Utilize an ADA-approved soft bristle brush and toothpaste. Position the brush at a 45-degree angle to the gums, employing gentle circular motions. Ensure the bristles make contact with the gums while cleaning the outer, inner, and biting surfaces of each tooth. Don’t forget to clean your tongue for a fresher breath. Electric toothbrushes are recommended for their efficiency in plaque removal. Simply guide the brush along the gums and teeth, allowing it to work its magic.

Daily flossing is indispensable for cleaning between teeth and beneath the gumline, disrupting plaque formation and preventing gum, teeth, and bone damage. Use 12-16 inches of dental floss, wrapping it around your middle fingers with a 2-inch gap between them. Gently guide the floss between teeth in a sawing motion, forming a C shape around each tooth and maneuvering it under the gumline. Glide the floss up and down, cleaning the sides of each tooth. Floss holders are recommended for those who find traditional floss challenging.

After brushing and meals, rinse your mouth with water if brushing is not immediately possible. Consult your dentist or dental hygienist regarding the appropriateness of over-the-counter rinsing products. Additionally, consider using other dental aids like interdental brushes, rubber tip stimulators, tongue cleaners, irrigation devices, and fluoride rinses as recommended.
